About True North

Megan M. Tranum, LMHC

Licensed Mental Health Counselor

I work with children aged 2-18 years old and I use Cognitive Behavioral Play Therapy (CBPT) in my sessions. At a young age children tend to lack the ability to verbally express themselves and explain their struggles to adults. The use of play, which all children can relate to, allows for the therapist to reach them on their level and communicate through play instead of through verbal discussions; therefore, using play to be therapeutic can be very positive for the child and allow the therapist to better relate and understand the child's worldview.

I earned my bachelor of Psychology at the University of South Florida in 2008. I went on to Argosy University where I earned my Masters of Mental Health Counseling in 2013.

I am skilled at working with children to help them over come the struggles they face. I help children learn how to: -Correct maladaptive Behaviors/Defiance/Conduct -Handle their emotions/Self-regulate/Calming techniques -Develop social skills/Joining play & Conversations Techniques -Conflict Resolution/Problem Solving -Flexibility -Cooperation/Team Building
